William Camden (1551 – 1623) was an English antiquarian, historian and topographer. He was Keeper of the Records in the Tower of London and published his Historia and Description of the World (1607–1622) in two volumes. He wrote a three-volume work on the History and Antiquities of Scotland (1707–1710), and his collection of Welsh MSS was published as Wales: or, A Tour through that country (1757). His personal papers are now in the British Library.
